How to Connect Nfusion to Dial – Up by Sovy
Connecting Nfusion to a dial up Internet connection is something that perhaps even a nerd will be able to pull off. All that needs to be done are these few simple steps.
With the XP dialup server configured, connecting the computer and the nFusion can be done with either a hub or a switch. Even a Network crossover cable, which is a network cable with the send receive pairs reversed, not straight thru, and available at Radio Shack can serve the purpose. Once the dialup connection is connected to the Internet, what you have to do is simply plug the network cable into the nFusion. This will lead to the Nfusion getting an IP address from the DHCP in the computer. Allow it a few minutes and then check the ‘Network’ settings on the nFusion. See if it now has a TCP/IP address assigned, which will probably be something like 192.168.0.x. Also, this should allow you to receive IKS over the internet, along with bin updates. However, since they are in the vicinity of 800k, all of this will surely take some time, which depends on how fast your dialup actually is. There’s also an instance of a person who has two computers connected through an ICS connection hosted by a third computer with a dialup and it has been running fine for several years now. The method is recommended by experts from FTA FILES and though it is slow, it surely works for MS Updates, email, Antivirus updates etc.
Another way of getting Nfusion connected to the Internet is this, as has been pointed out by FTA KEYS:
Things required are:
DYNEX PCI Adapter 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet Model DX-E101
DYNEX 4 Port 10 Mbps HUB
CAT 6 Premium NetWork Cable
When you have all that has been mentioned above, connect your hub to your computer. Refrain from using the port that says uplink use port 1, 2, 3,or 4. You can make use of port 1 and 3.
Connect the other cable to the Nfusion and then connect to the Internet.
When there is a connection, turn stb on from the back. By this time, you should be having a TCP/IP. Go to menu Network information and check if your information is present. And if its not there, you should go back to the link and start afresh.
If your information is present under Network information, go to Control panel and click on Internet connection. This reveals your dial up connection as well as your LAN connection. Click on your LAN connection, close every thing else except only the LAN page and keep the Internet connection on.
This allows you to download the files with there being no chances of it shutting down part way through. As far as the red light is considered, it is sometimes on and sometimes off. You can check your IKS by ooooo out the keys, which will make the red light to start blinking.
If if you wish to share your experience on this with others, FTA BLOG is where you can do it while FTA FORUM is where you can get into consultation with others.
